Ponte di Legno on the "Giro d'Italia"
Ponte di Legno - The "Giro d'Italia" will be in Valle Camonica for two entire days, passing through Ponte di Legno during the mountain stage that will bring the bicylce run from Tirano to Canazei. The dalignese town has already been point of arrival or departure of the Giro d'Italia several The last one was the 27th of may, 2014, with arrival in Val Martello. The year before the stage had been canceled due to snow.
This year the important passage will happen the 24th of May: starting from Tirano, then descending to Edolo and finally entering into Val di Sole. The cyclist will pass through Ponte di Legno and the Tonale Pass during the late morning (around 13.00).
The day before, during the stage from Rovetta to Borno the Giro d'Italia will pass through Valle Camonica with the ascension to the Mortirolo Pass, dedicated to Michele Scarponi, the bike champion recently and tragically passed away. The slope from Mortirolo to Monno is an almost all-time news, having happened only once before, in 1990.
